PROLOGUE
my name is Greg Aldrich and I am afraid of the dark.
born and raised in Fairbanks, AK I've been faced with a lot of dark. on the winter solstice it can get under 3 hrs of daylight. if there are things to be done, some tasks to be accomplished, some project you are engaged in... in the space of an exhale, that daylight has evaporated into the ether.
most of the day you just have to deal. have faith that the suffocation of this pitch dark blanket won't last forever. that there is some hope to continue.
this is what my artistic aspirations are about: how do we respond when we can't see what we know should be there? how do we find our way when even the stars overhead are obscured by clouds and there's not even a single light to guide our ways through the snow covered forest? how do we find home?
